Specs
Golden Age tuners are the rebirth of popular early 20th Century tuning machine designs, featuring simple steel plates and open gears. Replacements for the originals have long been sought by collectors and repairmen, to restore older guitars and improve their tuning. Our special Relic nickel-finished versions complement vintage hardware and add an authentic look to reproduction guitars.

15:1 gear ratio for improved tuning
Vintage style riveted worm posts
Handsome grained ivoroid or matte black knobs
.234" (5.94mm) string post diameter
Press-fit peghead bushings
Original mounting screw spacing (screws incuded)
1-3/8" (34.93mm) string post spacing
Bright nickel or Relic nickel finishes

Also available to fit slotted pegheads.

Note: Plate-mounted tuners can't work efficiently if the pegholes are improperly aligned. Our Tuner Drill Jig ensures the correct spacing for accurate tuning.

"The Golden Age Restoration tuners are really great. I have just put them onto my 1929 Gibson L-1...I like the fact that someone went to the trouble of making them look right." —John Evans, Brussels Belgium

"Great tuners with the right look and feel! The only thing different about them is that they are better made and more functional." —Richard Barnes, Pomona CA

To be sure these tuners fit your instrument, compare your existing machines and peghole dimensions to our listed specs to help determine the best replacement.

Restoration delight!

I have a few sets of the resoration tuners on my old Nationals and they are nothing short of wonderful, would recommend to anyone who wants something vintage looking and fully functional. These engraved ones were bought to put on a 1917 Gibson L3 and they are fantastic, spot on in every way.

Great product!

I replace the tuners of my aged (?) Fender lap steel as they have turned unsightly, and Golden Age fits perfect except I have to add 2 holes which was a breeze. Now, my lap steel looks like just off the shelf! Love it!

Perfect fit

I purchased these tuners as replacements for an early 1930's Gibson L-00. They fit perfectly, lining up exactly with the original post and screw holes, and required no extra driling. I got the relic nickel, black knob version and they look fantastic and work great. Thank you Stew Mac!!

The only available relic tuners for solid heads

I used the relic ones to replace the worn out tuners of my 1926 Gibson oval soundhole archtop L4. This tuners look very genuine, you can hardly see it's replacement. It fits very well and although the shafts are a little bit thicker, you can use the original bushings and also the original screwholes. The new shafts are a bit longer and that is better than the old ones.

What great tuners!

The only downside to these tuners is that they weren't available 10 or 15 years ago. Everything in its time. I use the Waverly style relic nickel tuners as original equipment on the Roberts Minstrel model. These tuners have that whole vintage vibe in spades. Everything was done right witht these tuners and what a reasonable price for these wonderfully authentic tuners. My compliments to StewMac. I use these on new customs, the Minstrel models and for restorations!
