Schertler Classical Guitar Tuning Machines

i have used these tuners on two guitars now and they are very smooth and consistent.

Aesthetically beautiful machines! I would use them on my instruments if the machining tolerances were tighter. These are good tuners, but they have too much play for $120. With a little rework, Schertler could have something here!

These tuners are excelent value. They work well and look sexy.

I ordered a set of Schertler to use on my custom designed Macafferri, nylon jazz guitar.
They looked excellent and the mechanism is of the highest quality.
Now for some problems:
The rollers, they are longer than standard and the fitting holes had to be drilled deeper, yet it did not suffice.
I had to grind about 2 mm to ensure they did not collide at the narrowest point of the head stock.
Also the roller is spaced away from the plate enough that it shows the metal roller pin when installed on a head stock that has narrower distance from its edge to the slots.
I had to dismantle the tuner and make a ring out of Black Delrin to fit the metal pin, to make up the space, so that the roller metal would not be exposed and cause the string to lodge itself when winding it.

The Schertler Classical Tuners are without question the smoothest turning, most precision machined tuners I've seen. The extra ounce in weight over my original tuners has helped the guitar's tone, too.

Just put a set of the gold Schertler Classical guitar tuning machines on a '63 Goya G30. The Goya was originally supplied with well designed and made single machines that still work fine. But I thought I'd try these newly designed Schertler machines...and I am so glad I did.

The mounting screw holes are close,but not close enough and new holes need to be made. But these tuners are beautifully built, very smooth, very easy to turn with absolutely no binding because of the excellent design of the tuners and because the individual tuner design does not force a connection between tuners, as on the three on a plate design.

Really worth trying...and I've tried a lot of really good tuning machines. I highly recommend these Schertler machines. M Scott
