No more "three-and-a-half-64ths or 3/32" plus one of those little lines." This gauge measures in ways that regular rulers can't. —Dan Erlewine

Developed here at Stewart-MacDonald by Dan Erlewine and Don MacRostie, the gauge features a progressive string height scale: simply slide it across the frets and read the measurement under the string. It's faster to use than any ruler, and stays parallel to the fingerboard--much easier than trying to hold a ruler perpendicular to a rounded fret. The string height markers are graduated from .010" to .140" on the inch model, and from 0.25mm to 3.50mm on the metric version.

The back of the gauge has a time-saving fractional/decimal/metric conversion chart.

The String Action Gauge is made of durable stainless steel with precision-etched markings, and fits right in your pocket.

Tip: You can use the gauge to set router depth, instead of a shop ruler. It sits solidly on your router base, with the scale right where you need it.

Much Easier to Use

The string action gauge makes set up much easier than the 6 inch machinist rule I was using. Just align the string with the horizontal mark and your "In Like Flynn"....

No more wobbly rulers!

The problem with using rulers is they wobble around. This new tool makes setting string and pickup height a breeze. It is especially useful for those folks who like a set up a little outside the radius. You can now easily copy the set up from their favorite guitar to their others with this new tool!

Guitar setups?

This is the thing, along with the understring radius gauges if you want to set up a guitar fast. I have many guitars now they all play the same which is great. I set both E strings first then use the radius tool to adjust the others. You couldnt buy mine from me.

I can't leave home with out it

I carry one in my wallet 2or3 over the workshop, another in my traveling repair bag, they've paid for themselves soooo many times and I feel lost without one.
cuts setup times, leaps tall building etc .etc

A "must have" tool!

Every guitarist should have one of this tool: simple, versatile, accurate. If you like perfection I recommend to use it with a headband magnifier.

Indispensable!

If there's one tool I can't be without nowadays it's this. It's clear, easy to use and with measurements in thou and 64ths it can be used for so many jobs. Simply essential!
