Made of machined steel, brass and aluminum, it features precision cutting depth adjustment with large thumbwheels to eliminate guesswork.

Designed especially for stringed instrument work.
  • Excellent control
  • Easy installation
  • Accurate freehand routing

Sturdy, compact, and adjustable
Each turn of the large knurled thumbwheels adjusts your Dremel's cutting depth by .035" (.889mm). You can rout an inlay cavity that's precisely compensated for the thickness of the pearl and glue, for less sanding later.

Tall twin handles give you excellent control for freehand routing, and you get a good view of your work. There's even a built-in nozzle for attaching a mini air pump to continuously blow away the dust—you'll rout inlay cavities more precisely, for a better fit requiring less filler.

And here's a tip from Dan Erlewine: clamp the Dremel and router base upside-down on your workbench, and use the bottom of the router base as a mini drum sander, as Dan Erlewine did for a Gibson L-1 archtop bridge in this issue of our Trade Secrets Newsletter.

Installation is easy.
Simply unscrew the threaded plastic collar on the nose of the Dremel, and screw on the Precision Router Base. Its 3/4-12 thread fits:
Dremel 4000, 400XPR, Professional, MultiPro and most corded models made since 1986
Black & Decker Wizard and RTX
Our Foredom custom handpiece

Great control.

This was my second attempt at inlay, and the first time inlaying stone. This in combo with the down-cut router bits are amazing. For first timers or pros these tools get the job done.

A classic.

This little gem puts the Dremel router base to shame. And it only costs a few dollars more!

Excellent base

I purchased this base for doing string inlay work in Federal period furniture pieces. This base attached quite easily to my Dremel 4000, replacing the flimsy plastic base that came with the tool. This is a sturdy, well machined piece of equipment that offers a high degree of accuracy when routing 1/32 of an inch grooves. My suggestion, after attaching the base is to "zero" it out, or bottom it out, then scribe a notch on each wheel, so as to have a reference mark. Having these pointers will make it easier to track your number of turns to each wheel, thus keeping the base and the carriage exactly parallel when raising, or lowering your router. If you plan on doing precision work with a Dremel, this base is surely the way to go. Thanks Stew Mac.

Precision Router Base

What superb tool! And great service! I also purchased the soundhole and rosette cutter and have now abandoned my hand-made cutter and chisels. Your tools do things a bit quicker - and neater. Order for the edge guide on its way to make up the set - less the blower!

High Quality Base

I finally replaced the Dremel Brand plastic router base with this one. Wish I would have done it sooner. Really nice!

Great value!

This tool/accessory not only does a better job than what the power tool manufacturer provides, but the price is a no brainier! I'll order a second base to eliminate having to reset between operations.

Very High Quality Tool

I use it to make bridges, easy to control, I use an aquarium air pump attached to the base, which does a good job of keeping the saw dust away to watch my progress. Great tool for freehand work too.

very good tool but if you are thinking about using this to bind a telecaster
forget it it wont go around the inside of the horn other than that i am sure it will be very handy for inlay
