Tip: All our bearings are now sized for exact cutting depth. Remember to allow for swelling of wood fibers from gluing, as well as for the thickness of the glue itself. Glued plastic binding will swell considerably as it absorbs the glue solvents. Wood bindings glued with wood glues that contain water will swell also. To minimize final scraping and sanding, we recommend installing a short length of binding on routed scrap wood first, to test the fit.

Binding Router bit set

This set worked great for me on my first two guitars. I had problem however keeping up with the bearing sizes and dropping the bearings every time I took them out to use. I made myself a carrying case out of an old plastic tool case with some scrap wood and 1/4 inch dowel rod. I use a rubber band to hold them in place when stored. See attached photo.

These are High Quality Bits and Bearings! :)

I recently purchased the smaller binding router set and what a great buy, I don't know if you have checked the prices in tool stores lately but Wow! are router bits expensive! This set is an excellent buy and high quality too! Here is a pic of a guitar I used these bits on...Buy These Bits! Trust Me! Thanks :)

Binding Router bit better than hand knives.

This router binding bit set is just what I needed. Worked well with my table mounted router. I made a guitar many years ago using hand knives and had put off finishing this one for a number of years because of the dificulty in cutting for the bindings. This router bit was the perfect solution, and the price was right. I'm 66 and didn't have to pull out any more hair using this bit. Thanks!

Binding Router Bit Set

The binding router bit set from Stewmac is fantastic. As a matter of fact, I have two sets with an extra bit, giving me three set-ups on three different laminate trimmers. I have one set-up for standard bindings and two others for standard purfings I use. After use of these bits on 25 or so guitars, they remain sharp and the bearings run freely, preventing burns on the guitar sides. I get a true binding channel with an excellent fit which prevents the extra work and time of massive drop-fills. Stemac has helped me to outfit my shop with the appropriate tools to make my guitars more professional, cutting down on time of construction, thus adding $$$$ to my bottom line.
