Fret an entire bolt-on neck, or most of an acoustic neck, FAST!
"My favorite fretting tool." — Dan Erlewine

Jaws was developed by our own Dan Erlewine, a master teacher of fretting techniques. It gives you finer control over the pressure needed to seat a fret into the slot — you can actually feel it seating! It eliminates complicated clamping setups, so your press-in fret jobs go faster. Original Jaws utilizes the same 2-1/2" radius brass inserts as our other Jaws tools.

Instructions
Jaws is a professional fretting tool with a self-leveling upper caul that adjusts easily to any neck. It includes five interchangeable 2-1/2" brass inserts, grooved to fit over the fretwire crown. The inserts match popular fretwire radii: 7-1/4", 9-1/2", 12" and 16", and a special 6"-radius insert holds down the fret ends for gluing. Additional radii are available.

Jaws is a durable steel tool that's easily adjustable. It has a 4-position coarse opening adjustment, plus fine thumbwheel adjustment for clamping pressure. A clamp release lever unlocks the tool. Jaws opens to approximately 2-1/2" (63.50mm) to accommodate any instrument neck.

Why press frets? Pressing the frets can save time and produce more consistent results. That's why it's the method that's widely used in guitar production. Pressed-in frets are less likely to have loose ends and uneven heights, because there's none of the recoil produced by hammer blows.
Be ready for any fret job!

A really great tool

While I won't hesitate to hammer in frets when I need to, the Jaws press has become my go-to fretting tool. Using it as a clamp when gluing frets doubles its value, and being able to fret a neck while in the neck jig can be so helpful when compression fretting.

Get one! Now! Please! For your own sake!!

These tool is the best tool i could have got for fretting. It is way beyond what i expected.

I wasn't really shure of these purchase.

But trust me when i say this is one of the best purchases i've ever made. Fretting is so easy and safe with Jaws. Like cutting butter. And they are so easy to use.

I'm very happy with my fretting pliers. I hope Jaws II are as great as Jaws. Worth every penny.

Jaws Comment

Finally purchased Jaws after much thought and hammering frets (for years). At first we found it difficult to operate. It takes a learning curve. It's easier as a clamping tool for sure.
However, after the learning curve we're more confident about Jaws where at first we were dicey.
Stewmac's video make it look so simple, but the instructions are clear and suggest trial before actual:Good advice.
In sum, this will be a useful tool.

Buying the license for a perfect fret job

I repeatedly looked at these and scoffed at the price- "for a glorified pair of vice grips", I thought... But I saw the ends of enough frets pop out of the slots as I tried to hammer them in, and decided finally to spend the dough. I IMMEDIATLY started seating frets perfectly. I now justify the cost like this: I bought the tool for $40, and the "perfect fret job" license for $200, and it was worth it!
Now if only it did the upper frets as easily as the lower ones...

Must have tool especially for rookie fretters

For the price of an expert fret job for one guitar, this tool enables you to do your own work with the fastest and most correct results a beginner can expect. If you have a 'guitar family', now you can install frets quickly and efficiently. After 3-4 tries on 'test necks', your whole technique evolves with practice, and I now am confident that I can handle most any fret job, for a six string, anyway.

Bravo!

I've stopped hammering

No more hammering for me. I get great results pressing with this tool. Once you use it a few times and develop the "feel" for it - smooth sailin' from there on.
