Instructions
The Fret Beveling File is the fast, accurate way to put a uniform 35° bevel on fret ends after installing new frets. With a quick, smooth motion, this file angles the fret ends and makes them ready for fret dressing and polishing. Available in either 3-3/4" or 7-1/2" filing lengths.

This 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" block (two lengths are available) holds a removable fine-tooth flat file at the proper 35° angle to bevel all the fret ends along the edge of the fingerboard. The block is made of low-friction material for smooth, easy filing. The 3-3/4" model is for short fingerboards (mandolins, for example), and for spot-filing partial refrets. It's also useful for working on used instruments with necks that aren't straight.
Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers and Fret Cutters. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

Great tool, but....

Like most reviewers, I find this tool terrific for getting a uniform, smooth bevel on the fret ends. But I'm surprised no-one has mentioned its tendency to trap the tiny fret filings in the machined surface of the plastic block which then make fine scratches in the top surface of the fret as the tool is moved back and forth if they are not cleaned off regularly. The scratches can be removed by polishing, but next time I'll try protecting the fret surface with tape before filing.

Fret Beveling File

The bevel edge file puts a nice uniform bevel on the frets and because the angle is set you just have to worry about filing upto the fretboard. The height of the file is set so that it doesn't mark the rest of the guitar. Watch for the file riding over the edge and marking the top of the frets.

Easier than hand filing

The fret beveling file makes getting the right angle on fret ends a snap. It used to take over an hour to get it right with a hand file. Now I can bevel the edges of my fretboards in less than five minutes and be ready to move on. This item saves a lot of time and aggravation.

Replicatable and consistent results

Great tool but hellishly expensive for what it is. But beats having to refret when you realise your strings keep slipping off the guitar because the angle was too shallow!

good

This does what it is supposed to. I only wish the file was set at a slightly steeper angle.

Easy and Simple

After purchasing this tool I realized how simple it is and I probably could have made it myself with a block of wood and a file. It's a very simple tool and somewhat expensive. Nevertheless I'm glad I got it. It works great. About 20 strokes on each side of the frets and they are beveled in a few minutes. Follow it up with a concave fret end file for a pro fret job.
