Saddle Routing Jig

The price of this tool makes it worth buying. If you want to make a similar jig it might cost a lot less in materials, but will take a lot of time you could be spending doing other stuff. its easy to use and accurate. i used it with my bosch router. theres a few tricks you need to know while using the tool so if you arent experienced maybe do a test run on a scrap bridge to get a feel for the router and how it cuts in the jig.

Quick, accurate and repeatable results.

This jig works great with the Bosch Colt router. Drill a 1/16" hole at the saddle locations at the e-strings' pin holes. Use your holes for aligning the jig. Then mill your slot in 2 or 3 passes with a 1/16" downcut bit. Make one final pass at full length and depth with the 3/32" for a nice and clean saddle slot.

This is a great design, easy to use and does the intended job well. I can't imagine cutting a saddle slot without it. However, one should be careful when the router gets to either end of the cut, as the router seems to take an exceptionally hard bite at the end, and the router bit can move slightly left and right, causing resulting in a slightly wider opening than the slot. This is easily avoided if the operator will hold the router tightly in his (or her) hand as the router reaches the limits of travel. As always, any tool needs the attention of the operator to work well. This fine tool is no exception.

It is a great tool for bridge work. I found the guide and router base have a few mm of slack. Not bad just have to take care to keep it square on one edge.

Had a jig I made myself and it worked fine for years, but once I tried one of these that friend had I was sold. Almost idiot proof, smooth, precise tight fitting action. Easy to clamp down.

An excellent piece of kit. Don't let the high price put you off. It's worth it, for pro results. And it's very easy to use too! Glad I bought one.

A heavy duty, well-designed jig that makes slotting a bridge easy and precisely accurate. I use plunge cuts and gradually increase the depth of each pass to obtain perfect results. Nice flat slot bottoms for good pickup contact too.

After shaking and sweating, I took my courage and my Dremel in hands and cut the perfect saddle slot with this perfect jig. Easy and accurate to use even for a new comer!
