Tip: All our bearings are now sized for exact cutting depth. Remember to allow for swelling of wood fibers from gluing, as well as for the thickness of the glue itself. Glued plastic binding will swell considerably as it absorbs the glue solvents. Wood bindings glued with wood glues that contain water will swell also. To minimize final scraping and sanding, we recommend installing a short length of binding on routed scrap wood first, to test the fit.

Binding Router Bearings

The bearings performed as expected. No rubbing or marring the guitar surface. I actually needed a purfling ledge a few hundreds wider than what the smallest available bearing cuts.A bearing for a .215 ledge would be nice. Note that the ID of the router bit/bearing of the Stu-Mac line is not compatible with that carried by LMI. Stu-Mac tools set a high standard.

Binding Router Bearings

Great product. Setup with binding bit was simple, and made perfect cut. Using with the binding bit I easily cut a channel that fit the binding exactly.

Great Quality

These are fantastic bearings. Great quality, they don't mar the edge of the guitar, and they are a perfect fit for stew macs bindings.

Great Quality.

I love these bearings. The are super smooth, they don't mar the edge of the guitar as they go around the edge. They are a perfect fit for the stew mac bindings, always.

Perfect Job Every Time

Your bearings make easy work of cutting binding/purfling channels. I purchased the .90 bearing and cut my channel using your binding bit. A perfect match and perfect job first time around. Binding fit the channel perfectly. Depth and Height was spot on and there was no need to re-cut, although I did pass along the channel a 2nd time to make sure it was uniform. It was. The extra wide bearing surface allowed for easy travel around the perimeter of the instrument.

If you have a binding job, than by all means these bearings, along with the bit, make the perfect binding team and take the worry out of routing binding channels.

Insufficient catalog description

I am generally happy with items I order from StewMac. This is an exception: I bought a bit and several bearings some years ago. I decided to get 3 more bearings so I could route some additional binding sizes. The bearing diameters are no longer published in the catalog, so I ordered three bearings for the channel size I needed. I have an older router bit that must not be the same size as the current router bit diameter. The bearings were the same size as ones that I already have. I wish the catalog would state the outside diameter of the bearing, in addition to the size of the channel it routes.

Work As Designed / Advertised

When they say .070", they mean .070"! Great and easy to use/install.

Router Bearings

I wish you could ether make a smaller bearing or have a larger cutting blade as when I do a purflin as a hairing bone plus 10thos purflin and 60thos. bindings. My bindings sand down fairly thin to get flush to the sides. As well as when I do an inlay of 10thos purflin and then the Abalone then 10thos.purflin plus 60thos. bindings again the Bindings get thin.

pleasure!

This was every thing I hoped for. It works quite well, and the many bearing sizes make it a pleasure to use.

Can't buy them at the hardware store.

It's great that you have all different size bearings to chose from. They work well with stew/mac router bits.
