Portable Digital Multimeter

The FIELDPIECE LT83A Multimeter I received wouldn't hold a constant continuity tone even with the the probe tips crossed! If a meter can't pass that simple test why go any farther? It was defective and I returned it. I was also surprised at how thick the meter was and it was quite heavy for a small meter. It is designed to accept a number of accessory heads - even one to measure air velocity with a propeller - so I guess that explains why it's design is so "heavy duty" but all of that robust tool design is for other applications that have nothing to do with most of the functions needed in a multimeter for guitar and amp work. It's really a "multi accessory" meter and you may not need all that accessory functionality. Stewart MacDonald was very good about handling the return.

Great product. I have tested my soldering on electric guitars, biased an amp, tested the fuses for my water well, all with this one unit.
