We're proud that this versatile attachment has become a must-have in guitar shops. It's a StewMac exclusive, designed and refined right here, and it's made the Dremel a more versatile and accurate guitar shop tool than ever before.

Do better-looking pearl inlay jobs. Clean or widen fret slots without tedious sawing. Perform light-duty routing with precise, reliable depth control. Our all-metal Precision Router Base attachment gives your Dremel no-wobble stability and more accurate depth adjustment than the stock plastic router base. We gave it a compact, easier to use size, and designed it to work seamlessly with other specialty jigs as well.

Perform more accurate routing without guesswork.
This is a high quality tool, made of durable machined steel, brass and aluminum. No plastic! Each turn of the large knurled thumbwheels adjusts your Dremel's cutting depth by .035" (.889mm). You can rout an inlay cavity that's precisely compensated for the thickness of the pearl and glue, for less sanding later. Tall twin handles give you excellent control for freehand routing, and you get a good view of your work. There's even a built-in nozzle for attaching a mini air pump to continuously blow away the dust—you'll rout inlay cavities more precisely, for a better fit requiring less filler.

Make your Dremel a more versatile guitar shop tool.
The Precision Router Base is a direct fit on our attachments:

Use your Dremel to cut clean binding channels up to 3/8" thick.

And here's a tip from Dan Erlewine: clamp the Dremel and router base upside-down on your workbench, and use the bottom of the router base as a mini drum sander, as Dan Erlewine did for a Gibson L-1 archtop bridge in this issue of our Trade Secrets Newsletter.

Installation is easy.
Simply unscrew the threaded plastic collar on the nose of the Dremel, and screw on the Precision Router Base. Its 3/4-12 thread fits:
Dremel 4000, 400XPR, Professional, MultiPro and most corded models made since 1986
Black & Decker Wizard and RTX
Our Foredom custom handpiece

Well worth the money. Far superior to the plastic router base that Dremel sells.

Indispensable

Once you have this attachment at your disposal, you will wonder how you ever managed without it! Amongst other light routing jobs, I find it particularly useful for purfling ledges. It is accurate and fast.

worth it

A very nice router base for the Dremel. Combined with the circle cutter it is just awesome what stability I have. I like the dual screw design. Be certain your dremel has good bearings and don't over-work the bits to prevent chip out in figured woods. Very well made.

Better than the original

I think it is much better than the original one. The only thing I miss is the edge guide but this is only usefull for non luthier jobs. For doing fine works where you have to look at you cutting this one is much better. With this tool you can work much more accurate as with the original one.

Whole new level...

... of precision. I never thought I'd be able to get as intricate as this base allows me to. I just like it and what it had enabled me to do with inlays

Modified for Proxxon IB-E

Even though I didn't have or want a Dremel I knew I had to have this base. Luckily for me, the dremel neck is smaller than the Proxxon so I took the base apart, stuck the mounting bracket in my lathe and turned the hole out with a carbide chisel. Once the hole was the right size (about 20mm) I drilled and tapped a 1/4" 20 thumb screw hole to secure the Proxxon in place. It was an easy operation and a great success. I now have a great mini router using a much better motor.

The base itself is very nicely made, easy to adjust and holds it's position well allowing me to do tiny hand scrolling with a sub 1/64" milling cutter using a magnifying visor and small LED light mounted to the base. To say I'm happy with the results would be an understatement. This combination of Precision base and Proxxon IB-E is killer and I think StewMac really should make a mounting block for Proxxon tools as they are much quieter, almost zero runout and don't vibrate. I'd even be happy to pay extra for a proper mount :)

Nice piece of gear guys!
