Binding Router Bit Set
Cut channels for 8 standard binding widths, including Herringone purfling. The special bushed bearings in this set match our standard binding thicknesses, and more. An extra .012" built in, to compensate for the swelling of the binding and the wood fibers during gluing, and for glue thickness. The result is a near-flush joint with only minimal scraping or sanding required.
Includes a special extension bushing for easier 'stairstep' binding channels.

Our tool designer Don MacRostie, who has years of experience installing complicated bindings, developed this expanded router bit set.
The set includes custom-bushed bearings for cutting channels for .040", .060", .075", .090", .100", .120" and .150" bindings, and for cutting a .200" ledge for Herringbone purfling. (1.02mm, 1.52mm, 1.90mm, 2.29mm, 2.54mm, 3.05mm, and 3.81mm bindings, and 5.08mm ledge for Herringbone.)
The super sharp carbide-tipped cutter has .925" (23.50mm) unbushed cutting diameter, a 1/4" (6.35mm) arbor to fit your shop router, and an allen screw for installing the bearings. Allen wrench and instructions are included.
A 3/32" extension bushing is also included for successfully routing multiple "stepped" binding channels. This extension can also keep the bearing from rolling over dried glue squeeze-out, which could cause a non-uniform channel depth (this is explained with photos in the instructions).
