Seam Separation Knife

I like this tool a lot. It will replace some of the knives and chisels I have used in the past for multiple jobs. Including hand cutting v shaped patches for cracks in spruce tops.

Just like the offset knife - this is a dandy tool. Inexpensive and well-made in good old Nippon(Japan). Sort of the Ibanez of knives ;-) The blade is great- I use it as-stated to open up seams I'm getting ready to re-glue.

I will never attempt another fretboard removal with anything but this tool. It cut my time by 60% and leaves the separation seams clean enough to not require additional finishing upon reassembly.

This gem is a "fooler." In reality, the gentle wedge and razor sharp leading edge makes for controlled separation of glued seams. What was a purchase on a "whim," has become a reliable tool.

This tool does everything it is supposed to and makes hitherto tense jobs surprisingly easy. I first used it to separate the veneers on the resonator of an all-wood banjo I was restoring.

The angle ground on the blade acts as a gentle wedge when separating glue joints but doesn't allow the edge to dig into the wood or wander. Used cold or with a little applied heat it allowed me to tackle most separation jobs with increased confidence.

The blade is hard with a finely ground surface and performs its purpose beautiful. I am also pleased it was made on this side of the ocean.

Great tool. First time I used it was to remove head veneer on a warped neck. Did such a great job I was able to reuse original veneer.

Yes, I said shoe knife. I worked in a pattern shop for Chrysler in the 80's and these were handy little knifes we used to fillet and shave Styrofoam. I could not find them until I saw them at stew mac. They have a thin, flexible blade that sharpens easy and is nice for opening cracks and slicing grain repair wood.
