This machined aluminum/brass jig lets you easily cut circular purfling and rosette channels, or a soundhole in a new guitar top. It attaches to our Precision Router Base, for use with your rotary tool. We've redesigned this tool for improved stability and more precise adjustment, and added a handy indexing scale for quickly setting the routing diameter.

Instructions
The jig can be precisely adjusted for 3" to 6"-diameter cuts, and includes a centerpin to mount through the soundboard and into a supporting workboard. Simply rotate the jig around the pin. The router base adjusts the cutting depth precisely.

We recommend our downcut bits for cleanest results when routing spruce.

The Soundhole/Rosette Routing Jig attaches to our Precision Router Base, Dremel, or Foredom tool, not included.

Excellent!

Routed my first rosette and binding channels with this jig and it worked perfectly. Like another user mentioned the base did leave marks on the soundboard but it sands off in minutes.

staining/leaving marks

Again this is a great tool. Very accurate. There have been some issues with the aluminum staining or marking the top as the cutter is turned. Also, I have noticed a couple of solutions offered. Try this. Get a blank self adhesive pick guard and attach it to the bottom of the jig. Trim and slightly bevel the edge and you are in business. Very smooth gliding across the spruce and mark free.

Pretty good

Let me start of by saying his tool is great and easy to use. It's very accurate and a nice addition to the arsenal of tools. There is one major issue though. The aluminum stained my cedar very badly and it took quite a bit of acetone and some sanding to remove it. For $50 and another $50 for the base you shouldn't have to worry about things like this. Any kind of thin varnish on the metal would protect the wood and prevent this. All in all performance is 5 star. The staining is about a 2.

Could be improved

The jig works extremely well. The only thing missing is a coated bottom. The one I received leaves marks like pencil lead when you rotate it against the top. I used two-inch clear packing tape to solve this problem with mine.

How did I ever live without?

Was immediately modded upon taking it out of the box to cut circles up to 161mm. But otherwise I must say this tool has astonished me with it's precision, ease of use, and utility.
