The descriptions states "it lays flat on the fingerboard" if I do that it does not touch the frets. I have to stand it on edge.

Great tool for its designated purpose! Does exactly what is advertised and does it well.

Its a fine useful tool, altough the handle is finely crafted, with brass crown and classic look, the file itself looks like those inexpensive asian tools. I made mine a "Five Star" with two touches: I finished the handle with tru-oil (gun stock finish) and I mirror-polished the face in the file, now I can work bound necks as well.

Excellent too. Shapes the fret easily,havnt stopped using it since I bought it!

I would have given this one a 5, but it had no instructions or demonstrations. I finally found a way to use it and it saved me a lot of time. I was laying it down instead of standing it up.... if that makes any sense.

This file is very useful especially if the fret has been leveled fairly flat. This shapes it up quick and enables you to get a diamond file around it. Works very well on jumbo frets and cuts great!

Great tool. You can use it to shape new frets and fret ends and reshape old frets that have side wear. You can even use it to put a crown on if you are careful. All without damaging the fretboard! Awesome tool. Well worth the money.

This file wont mark the fingerboard unless your are careless. I feel it works best when used in conjunction with the double edge fret file.

Very good results for rounding fret ends, does the job with on a couple of passes.

This is a fantastic fret file. It can be used not only to crown frets but also to round off the sharp edges of the fret ends. I have dressed many guitars now with this file and it is as sharp as when it was new. I have also had NO problems with marring any fretboards with it. It WILL NOT cut into the fretboard unless you really try to mess things up. Very easy to use and very comfortable in your hand.
