Installing neck attachment ferrules in a contoured body demands clean, chip-free drilling (after all, there's no neck plate to hide ragged holes). Colt's MaxiCut Forstner bit produces precise flat-bottom 5/8"-diameter holes with nice smooth edges, for a snug fit and a professional appearance.

This is the matching bit for our Neck Ferrules.

A state-of-the-art tool! The new MaxiCut cutting head is designed to run cooler and cut faster, for extended life and superior efficiency. Wood chips are broken up as they're severed, to prevent clogging. There's no slipping in the chuck, thanks to Colt's polygonal RotaStop shank; torque is optimized for better efficiency when drilling harder woods.

High-speed steel with 10mm (.394") shank.

Made for matching with neck ferrules?

I bought the counterbore bit for the hole, I bought the neck ferrules, for which this bit is made for, and the result is that the hole is larger than the ferrules. Nothing like "snug fit and professional appearance". I can almost put a 1/18 allen key between the ferrules and the edge of the hole". It's really disappointing, especially when you notice the problem the day you are in late and your costumer is coming to the shop to test the bare instrument.

Andrea Marcellan,
Thank you for your order and review. The hole produced by this bit is over-sized to account for finish build up. After the finish is applied, you'll get a snug fit for the ferrules.

At last....

The perfect tool to give perfect results. A perfectly flat bottomed hole and precise diameter. At last, no more dodgey ferrule installs.
