I have been modifying guitars for over 15 years, not until this year have I begun the process of building a guitar. After testing out the current hardware store bits on extra maple and swamp ash laying around and seeing all the chips, fuzzy edges and ugly holes I decided to grab a set of the fractional bits and I couldn't be happier. So far, I've tested them out on my scrap wood and the holes came out clean with minimal fuzzies on the exit hole, but it's not a big deal at all. Best drill bits ever, of all time.
i am very happy with these. they're worth the money.
These drill bits are great! nice clean holes with no rip out at all. I use these all the time and have not had one bad experience.
This set of drills has been invaluable for producing neat holes without chipping and preserving the finish when drilling prefinished bodies for pick guards etc.
The drill hole is perfect for Bass tuners are hard to find.
Why is it that everything i get from Stew Mac works so much better than its hardware-store-variety counterpart? I've used these to drill new Tune-o-Matic bridge posts, piezo cable holes in acoustic bridges, Pot holes on the face of a resonator, strap button pilot holes.. and they just work better than any other drill bits I've owned (which is a LOT). When it comes to tools, even ones available at local hardware stores in Sydney, I just wouldn't use anything but Stew Mac.
I looked all over for a set like this in the big box stores. If anyone is into building guitars you need a good set of brad point bits
