I have wanted these for a long time--ever since I worked in a shop with a luthier who had a set. They are indispensable. The alternative is to use regular bridge pins to align the bridge, then remove them after about 15 minutes (so that you CAN remove them). Then there is the issue with cleaning the slave bridge pins (they weren't dedicated for this purpose). With the silicone pins, I can leave them in, then wipe them off. MUCH EASIER. Glad I finally took the plunge. The only disadvantage is that since they're soft, the bridge (when clamped) can 'walk' more easily than when using hard plastic pins to align. However, the easier cleanup etc offsets this small issue.
These were a great help when installing a new bridge. They were easily removed when the glue dried and the holes were clean.
For $5 I can't complain. These pins were too thick to use on my vintage Crown. Once they were firmly in place the bridge still had wiggle room. I'll shave a couple these to fit next the guitar.
I've read the other reviews and wonder why they could not use these pins to locate their bridges. They fit the guitar I used them for. They have helped me to repair two more pulled off bridges and I had no problem. Go figure..
For the cost of these, their usefulness is great. It made repairing a bridge much easier, allowing for quick alignment over the original holes and keeping the glue from flooding in to them.
This is such as simple item but it works really well and the glue does not adhere to them. Recent guitar in for a bridge reset but the peg holes were worn to the point where the pegs were loose in the holes. Normally I would use two of the pegs to align but in this case, that was not an option. Using the locating pegs completed the job beautifully. Oh! incidentally I did tell the customer he needed remedial action on his bridge which he declined.
I am on the same vein as a previous reviewer. These work very well-however they do require a little hand work to get the right diameter to fit into peg holes correctly. After that, they work great-just used them last week.
after checking and rechecking the measurements, turns out the bridge I had to reset was in the right place....tapped the two outer pins into the bridge, clamped, dried, perfect intonataion...great idea.
I buy several sets and custom cut them for each job. They keep the bridge plates in place when doing glue ups.
After the finishing was completed and I took off the tape from the face were the bridge had previously been bolted on I used these pins to locate the bridge in the the reamed holes for gluing the bridge on. Worked perfectly and no problem with them sticking in the bridge.
