Make any guitar play better!
We're often asked to recommend "must-have" tools for setting up acoustic and electric guitars. We've made it easy—the Basic Setup Kit includes our most popular setup tools. These are the same super-accurate, high quality steel setup tools that professional repair shops depend on.

Includes:

String Action Gauge The fastest way to measure the height of strings, nuts, saddles and pickup polepieces. Designed for stringed instrument work, it's much faster to use than any ruler.

18" Precision Straightedge Machined for fanatic accuracy (to ±.0015" per foot)! Use it to check neck relief and evaluate truss rod adjustments.

Understring Radius Gauges A big help for matching bridge saddle heights to the fretboard curvature, for easier playability. Accurately laser-cut from stainless steel, the set includes 9 different fretboard radii.

Truss rod adjustment is an important part of guitar setup, too.
Our Truss Rod Wrench Set has the tool you need.

Exactly what I needed

This kit made my set ups easy. Everything was there. Have used them so far on one of my Strats, my Tele & SG. I can feel the difference.

Basic Setup Kit is a time-saving winner

First class service from Stewmac, I ordered the goods on Friday and they arrived Tuesday in the sunny West Scotland Isle of Bute.
This kit is a real winner. I have saved hours already on setups on guitars and mandolins and the instruments play so much better. Clear instructions delivered with the kit made the job so much easier.
I would highly recommend this item.

Changed Everything

I moved from incapable to competent with this kit. I should have gotten into this years ago. I would have had more enjoyable experiences playing, and saved a ton of money!

Best Setup Kit Ever!

I thought I had all my guitars set up just right. However, this kit allowed me to fine tune my setups to a whole new level of perfection and ease of playing. No more makeshift tools for me. I strongly recommend this kit to anyone who does their own setups on their personal instruments. My friends are coming to me now to fine tune their guitars. I don't know how I got along without it. Worth every penny, and then some!

Best kit your money can buy

The quality of this kit is amazing. I used to spend $60 a shot every time I took a guitar in to have a good detailed setup done, just because I didn't have the right tools for the job. When you consider that, it pays for itself pretty quick. You'll have everything you need to properly setup any guitar you can come up with. The included instructions are great too. Lot's of good information on the standard measurements for many popular guitars. I'd also suggest picking up a copy of Dan Erlewine's "Guitar Player's Repair Guide" to give you lots of additional tips on how these tools can be used.

Very Useful

I cant tell you how many uses I've found for all of this stuff. the Precision to which all of it is made is amazing. I always find my self grabbing for this stuff even when I'm not working on guitars. Definitely a good product, but a bit pricey. Mine was a gift, but I probably would have bought it my self anyway.
