Fast, no-hassle installation. These great-sounding assemblies include prewired control pots, 5-way switch, capacitor, knobs and pickup hardware. No soldering — hookup is fast and easy, and you're ready to rock. No complicated wiring diagrams and no guesswork.

1 Install the jack and screw its white (hot) wire into the connector's right-side terminal (as viewed from the bottom of the pickguard).
2 Screw the jack's black (ground) wire into the center terminal.
3 Clip your tremolo claw ground wire (or the ground wire from your non-tremolo bridge) off your old control pot, strip away 3/16” of the insulation, and screw the wire into the left-side terminal.
You're ready to rock!

Classic 1950s tone with fangs. Golden Age vintage-style Alnico 5 staggered polepieces and AWG42 coil wire deliver! The pickups are individually wound for optimum output at the neck, middle and bridge positions, and wax-potted for microphonic suppression. The middle pickup is reverse wound, reverse polarity, for hum cancellation at the #2 and #4 switch positions. Our special 7.6K-ohm Golden Age Hot bridge pickup has extra windings that will get your playing noticed! (The neck and middle pickups are 6.0K ohms.) Each pickup has 2-1/16" (52.39mm) polepiece spread, and vintage-style fabric-insulated hookup wires.

Great Economical Upgrade

I built a Strocaster replica guitar several years ago and was not real happy with the sound of the pickguard that came with the kit. I replaced it with the Golden Age Hotwired Pickguard. Using my Dremal tool I had to shave some portions of the Pickguard to fit around the neck and bridge which was very easy to do and looks great. What a difference in the sound and as advertised no electrical soldering was required. I would recommend this Pickguard to anyone not only for the ease of installation but also for a great sound.

Great Upgrade

I never fully realized the differences between American made guitars and their cheaper made Asian counterparts. I get it now, after actually comparing what came out of my brand new Squier CV 50's Strat to this Golden Age Hotwired Pickguard. Adding this product to the Squier was simple as advertised, cosmetically pleasing, and has given this budget Strat a tone that is even better than that of my Fender AVRI 57 Strat. Good Stuff. PS....My 5 way switch works great without any rework.

Not good enough

The only sounding pickup was at the neck.

After some time trying to see if the wires were set up wrong, i discovered that the little copper pieces that touch each other when you select a position, were not even touching.

They're not bended enough to touch, or at least to do it continuosly. The only pickup that was working was the neck pickup, the bridge pickup was intermitent, and the middle didn't work at all.

I had to bend inside that copper pieces a little more than they were, now the pickups sound as they should, but i'm not still confident. That made me go and look for a better quality pickup selector. I have a 1985 strat with the original piece and has never given me problems.

Apart from that, the wiring seems to be in really good shape, and as far as I could test, the neck pickup sounds really good.

The aditional wiring is easy and you can be rocking in no time, as long as the pickup selector works. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a decent one in the next pickguard kit, just to avoid buying another piece that i shouldn't buy again.
