I chose this color pickguard material to cover a Fender Lead II body that I stained a Root Beer color. The material is the ideal thickness for pickguards. For my purposes the color works wonderfully as it probably would with any other "darker" color. With lighter colors you may want to go with a lighter shade of Cream.
Wonderful Stuff! EXACTLY the same plastic used on my Epiphone or near enough that the difference is negligible. I wish only that Stew-Mac had the cover plates or templates for Epiphones.
This material was the right thickness; had a peel-off layer to protect the surface; and was well packaged. Unfortunately, the color was WAY too red/orange--certainly not the "cream" color I was expecting. It doesn't match the "cream" knobs & pickup brackets on my Les Paul guitar (or any other similar guitars I've seen).
I loved the sheer flexibility and ease of use of this material. I used a jigsaw with a skinny blade, and this let me go any which way without breaking. I "beveled" the edges with my mouse sander, and it looked great, no scratches to speak of. No complaints on the color either
I purchased this to put on an electric to match the cream pickup covers. There is too much yellow in this for my taste and it did not match the cream pickup covers. I ended up just going black on everything.
