Tortoloid is a handsome material developed by luthier Mario Proulx, using poured resins and dyes to reproduce the color and 3-dimensional depth of antique Hawskbill tortoise shell (antique guitar picks were used for sampling the colors).
Dark brown in color, it has semi-transparent amber areas that intensify the color of the soundboard to complement your guitar's appearance. Tortoloid will add a vintage touch to your guitar.
See details below
Each Tortoloid pickguard is individually made. Like natural shell, no two have exactly the same pattern. The shape is right, too: authentic 1930s Dreadnought.
Dimensions: Approximately 7" x 3-13/16" x .025" (177.80mm x 96.84mm x 0.64mm), with 2-3/8" (60.32mm) radius at the soundhole. The edges are gracefully smoothed; no beveling needed. The highly durable material is .030" thin, flexible, resists shrinkage and comes prepared with 3M adhesive.
