Great quality product and very well packaged was delivered just in time. I recommend StewMac to all buyers. Thank you!
they worked great!
These string retainers work well and look good with black hardware! I can understand why people wouldn't like them with other hardware though.
I feel they function well but I had to do a lot of mods to them to get the angle right
not a neccesity, but a cool touch to my custom guitar.
These string trees work smoothly, but they don't look that great. The plastic body is really bulky, and it has a weird flat circle on the top, which stands out in a bad way against the textured body.
I used these to replace the cheezy little bent metal scrap that came stock on a strat. I used both of the retainers, on the 4 thinnest strings, spaced out so that the string angle over the nut was pretty uniform. I was concerned at first that the string tension would pull out the little screw that mounts the retainer. It hasn't. They've held solid. I just made sure to drill a pilot hole a little smaller than the screw and it bit down hard! I can confirm that these help tuning issues. The strat stays in tune better than before, especially while doing bigg bends and whammy stuff. The look modernizes an old school strat, too! I like them.
The old T-bar tree finally got to me. I had little twangs going on when bending the G at the 7th fret. So after analysis I realized it was the original factory string tree. I purchased these roller trees and problem solved. Well it's not the T-bar tree, and a button might have given it a retro look, but with the graphite saddles and graphite nut it all matches. And the old trusty strat plays better than ever.
Nicely assembled retainers that do not pinch the strings as others do. Be sure to screw it into the head oriented the proper way as if not the retainer and screw will eventually pop loose and fly off to oblivion! The screw should mount as embedded in the countersunk screw hole in the device.
The plastic is not so good looking. The strings retainers are a little too large for my guitar and it cannot be adjusted. Despite of that it does it job.
