Clear Pickguards

5 star item.

Be warned. When you drill the holes for the pick-up screws, use the smallest drill bit you can find and work your way up. The pick guard is brittle and if you try and force a drill through it, it will break.

But that was mine fault. So I'm not going to rate it lower.

Very nice. Perfect fit on my Warmoth tele body.Minor concern: had to drill my own pickup mounting holes but no big deal.

I bought a clear Strat pickguard for my 1978 USA Strat. Screwholes line up well (or at least no worse than any other Fender och WD pickguard I tried on this guitar).

Surface was covered with protective film and was shiny and nice. No problems with cracks around screwholes so far; does not seem brittle.

However, the holes for the control pots were too small for the (very common) CTS pots in this guitar, so I had to file them a bit. This was a little cumbersome as I had already mounted the pickups, etc.

I can recommend this pickguard for a '70s USA Strat, but remember to check and, if needed, file the pot holes before you mount it.

And easy way to make your the instrument personal...

I got the Strat pickguard as an upgrade to my Squier Bullet. The screw holes, controls and bridge plate didn't match precisely, and a mod was required to fit bridge humbucker. But plastic is easily cut with the right tools. Used 3M Super 77 spray to glue fabric backing and placed aluminum foil ground behind that. Came out slightly thicker than original, and had to modify 'bucker cover plate. A fun afternoon project and it came out great.

fit well the kids love it. The guitar the young man is making is for his Mom that has passed. I call it a labor of love. Alot of thinking went into this guitar.. He is almost done. thanks to the clear pickguard make his dream come true..
