The pot maintains hide glue at 150-155 degrees F when 2/3 to 3/4 full (approx. 10 degrees higher when using a lid). Behlen Ground Hide Glue is the traditional luthier's glue that creates stronger wood joints than bottled liquid hide glues.

For potting pickups, the ideal mixture is 80 percent paraffin and 20 percent beeswax. See our article Lindy Fralin on wax potting pickups.

Right tool for the job.

I saw this on the workbench of the cat that works on my LesPauls and SGs. I asked him "What is that?" 15 minutes later I had a deeper understanding of Hide Glue. He just finished a restoration on a 1869 C.F. Martin original.Stew Mac hide glue played a big part in what turned out to be a remarkable resto. Before, It looked trashed to me or a regular joe, An amazing tool. Hide Glue.

Good pot

I bought one of these back in the 70's and it still works great.
