Glue Syringe

I have successfully used the syringe to apply grease to sealed machine heads (in this case, vintage and dried-up Klusons). Step 1: soak the machine heads in Acetone or other grease-solving chemicals (I used an ultrasonic cleaner to speed up the process). Step 2: modify one of the largest diameter needles (.033): grind off the needle's sharp point, so that in the end the needle opening is completely flat. This will allow for deeper penetration into the machine head's grease howl cavity. Step 3: firmly tape electrician's tape over the grease hole, covering most of the machine head's back. Step 4: fill the syringe with a high quality (I use synthetic) grease. Step 5: puncture the tape over the grease hole with the needle, insert the needle, and squeeze the syringe trigger until grease starts coming out the sides of the machine head's cover. The electrician's tape will prevent the grease to seek its easiest path out: the grease hole is now tightly sealed, and there will be no gap between the needle and the hole, so the grease is forced into the last corners of the machine head cavity. Step 6: turn the machine head a few turns, and in both directions, to thoroughly expose the grease to the gear components. Step 7: carefully remove all excess grease from the machine head: the wood of the head stock does not like grease, and will swell with time if exposed. Good Luck! Junior Marbles

This is a very nice tool for glue application, it looks to be good quality and confortable to use, very easy to apply glue in tight places and pinpoint accuracy, I am very pleased with my purchase, I should have purchased two but, I may buy another later on, thanks for the great products you sell, I do appreciate it, thank you.

I like the syringe for getting glue into those tight spots where a popsicle stick or glue bottle can't go. Works great to pump glue into the deepest part of a cracked neck or into a separated body joint under kerfed lining. I use the syringe and needle any place that's hard to reach or requires controlled placement of glue. This exact item is not readily available in woodworking stores in my area so, I order it from Stewmac, and they always have it available and ship it right away. Also, the needles being available separately and in 3 different sizes is good, too. Great tools and great service.

The syringe works great for getting glue into layers and tight spots. A longer needle would help in some places.

These syringes have been a life saver! I've used them for years in violin repair and guitar repair, but my wife brought in a chest of drawers with some veneer that was pulled up due to moisture... Oh my gosh, what a project!! I went and got my syringe and started punching holes in the veneer and filling the air bubbles with glue. It Worked! Now she is a happy camper and I am too!!!

Syringe works great - get the 'kit' with the syringe and needles. I just used it with hide glue for a Gibby headstock crack repair. Be careful handling them - I found the needles bend under a lot of pressure. And they're sharp - don't stick yourself accidentally!

I have been so accustomed to the 5cc model that this 10cc model feels too big. I think most craftspeople would agree that change of this type is a major irritant. I will eventually get used to the larger syringe. Thanks for listening!
