Instrument makers and repair shops rely on us for the highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire. We supply our fretwire in 2-foot straight lengths. Order 6 feet for a complete guitar or bass fret job, and 4 feet for a mandolin, banjo or ukulele.

Order fretwire by the pound for tidy savings!
Our bulk fretwire is supplied in convenient clear storage tubes, to keep your wire organized and your workbench uncluttered. You’ll save 50% or more when you order fretwire by the pound.

Our fretwire is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs.

Great fretwire

The Height and width of this fretwire are very comfortable and for my first fretting job proved to be very satisfactory. I was impressed with how the tang was the perfect width for the slot cut by my fret saw which I also ordered from stewmac.com.

Just the thing

If your building a bass or a classic Gibson style guitar, the medium wide fretwire is a great addition to your workshop. A little extra height for touch up's over time, and that great classic " Jumbo " fret feel. Stewmac's speedy delivery gets it here when I need it, no hassles, no fuss. Great product.

I had a guitar who's owner wanted only the first 5 frets replaced. Stew Mac
wide fret wire was a match, installed
well and made for a nice playing neck
once leveled,crowned and polished with
Stew Mac fretting tools.

All StewMac Fretwire.

This is the ONLY fretwire that I use.
I have fretted more necks than you can see crooked back at a Dayton, OH air show!
I refuse to use any other wire as I have found others to be quite Worthless.
Fretwire is extruded and the wire that StewMac supplies is the most consistent on this planet. (it's made in the USA and others are not)
With that, do you know that extrusion heads wear out? And that creates fretwire with varied crown shape?
I have NEVER seen this wire go out of tolerance but by a mere .oo1"!
And that is amazing by anyone's standards!!! Denny Kopp,
