Highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire
Medium widths are used extensively by Martin, Fender and Gibson, and are the most popular fretwire sizes #0148 medium fretwire is our best seller.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs. Our fretwire tang is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Order 6 feet for a guitar or bass, and 4 feet for a mandolin or banjo.

Stays put and EASY to work with!

Great fret wire! It has really effective barbs. Once you have the fret pressed/tapped in place it stays there. No spring-back. When you work with quality materials, work is a pure pleasure!

Refret? No sweat!

I've used Stew-Mac's fretwire before, and have yet to run into any problems. Works great on acoustic and electric guitars and basses. Haven't used any other brands, don't think I need to. Overall, I'm pleased with this fretwire.

Great Frewire, Not Enough....

Great Fretwire, 2ft are not enough for a 660mm scale length, luckily I had a little piece of fretwire, so I managed.

Setting a standard

This is one of the things that Stewmac does that is second to none. Their fretwire is hard, so it lasts a long time, and if you get it in one pound increments the storage containers are great.

First fret job
