Being able to press frets makes everything a little more predictable. If you see it's not going in exactly the way you want you can stop half way instead of hammering it all the way in. Also, being able to leave it clamped while the glues sets makes for a good solid fret. No more dead frets. If you're on the fence about this product, don't be. It's great.

This tool takes a bit of getting used to when using it to press the frets over the heel, and it will only reach the last 3 frets on many tongue extensions. Still, its better than hammering them in on many jobs.

Hey, this thing is much better than hammering the fret into submission -- as long as I do my part thoughtfully it will do it's part effectively. You have to have a good strong grip to send the tangs home -- I'm not so young anymore.

It works fine to squeeze in the frets. I found that it was necessary to start at one end of the fret and work across the fingerboard, but that's not a significant drawback. Given that the brass inserts are unlikely to ever exactly match the fingerboard curvature, it will be necessary in any event. A fatter handle or T-handle would be nice to apply the needed torque. As another reviewer noted, it won't work for the last few frets on a classical guitar. For those I use an ebony caul and regular C-clamps. Despite these quibbles, it's a good tool and I'm glad I have it.

Great for holding the fret down while you glue dries, which is why I bought one of these after buying the fret arbor press. The best bang for your buck. Only thing I would like to see is a grub screw or something to hold the cauls in place to make it easier going from fret to fret.

This is good but not best.

I bought this after seeing someone on Youtube use this on a Les Paul. It is a fantastic tool for fretting over the heel and to sound hole. A little slow but definitely can be used for the whole neck in a pinch. It takes a little practice to be proficient but know I cant imagine life without it.Works very well on my neck jig!

I build and repair acoustics and electrics of all shapes and sizes and so I needed a versatile fretting tool that not only worked "out-of-the-box" but also allowed me to design and build my own cauls for non-standard work. It took some practice to get comfortable with the design but now I can't imagine NOT having this in my shop. This tool provides enough versatility that with some imagination (and a good band saw) you can tackle any fret job.

I never liked the idea of hammering frets in simply because of denting frets and having to level the frets out more, nothing better than pressing them in, i leave the jaws2 tightened on the fret I'm working on as i wick the super glue in for the fret and let it rest for 5mins and move on to the next fret. Great item

Sorry, the system works ok itself. It is a brilliant idea, but it unfortunately it is not possible to use it for the 18th and 19th fret of a classical guitar. Once you insert it inside the soundhole you can only reach up to the 17th fret. It might work great on a steel string guitar, but I think you should have mentioned this kind of problem for those who build classical guitars.
