The Relief Gauge helps you reset an unstrung neck without guesswork: Record a gauge measurement at the bridge with the strings installed, and use a brace jack inside the guitar to restore the bridge height when the strings are removed.
The Relief Gauge lets you simulate string tension for contouring the bottom of a new bridge, or for routing a saddle slot: Use the gauge and a brace jack to simulate normal bridge height with the strings removed. After you rout the slot, the saddle will fit more accurately important for good tone and critical for undersaddle transducer pickups.
Three holes in each end of the aluminum beam adapt the Relief Gauge for a variety of instruments, and a swiveling foot allows free-standing use. The dial indicator is accurate to .001" with adjustable zero point. The Gauge measures 14" x 1" x 1/2".
