Now available for bass!
Developed in our shop, the notched straightedge has become a standard for evaluating fretboards. The notches fit right over the frets so you can check the straightness of the fretboard itself, without the interference of worn or badly-seated frets.

Does the job

I like these but you have to be sure that your fretboard area is indeed level before relying on this straightedge. Good solid construction and I like the convenience of the long and short scale notches.

One of the most used Tools in my Shop...To do a proper Level, Crown and Polish, it's absolutely crucial to get a good reading on the Fingerboard first, and this Tool is designed for just that...Many will attempt to save a few dollars and make their own, but unless you don't have much value for your time ?...I strongly suggest the purchase of this tool from Stew-Mac.

STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW

Was having problems setting the neck relief on my 6 string bass with 2 truss rods. Bought the straight edge to measure the true relief of the neck not the frets. Works amazing. I now use it to set the neck relief instead of using the string. Easier and more accurate. Should have bought one years ago!

Nothing beats the original

I saw this product about a year ago. It was just to much money so I made my own. After a year has passed I wish I had just put up the money. This is thick and will stand on the fretboard. It is super accurate. Just can't beat the original. Another great product StewMac!

Notched Straightedge

For me to be able to give my guitars routine check-ups, this is hands-down my most important tool and was my very first purchase. The information gleaned from this device is what determines what, if any, next-steps are needed in maintaining my guitars. The notched-straightedge gives me both a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the fretboard, an area of the guitar that used to be one of great uncertainty.

With this tool and some feeler gauges, no imperfection or defect goes undetected. A truly brilliant, yet amazingly simple, tool.

Very useful !

This is a very useful tool. When using this, I know the state of the neck in a moment. The point that pay attention. It's necessary to apply this to a string and parallel when your guitar has small radius fingerboard.

Notched Straightedges

An excellent tool. Gives a more accurate reading of the fingerboard and neck than a straightedge across the frets. A must have for fretwork and setups.
