Very precise, very qualitative. The price is quite expensive.

Great tool, couldn't live without it. Never even looked at the advertised thickness, all I know is that its heavy duty and will last for years...Nuff said...

You can quickly tell where and what needs to be adjusted on the neck. The price is a little high but if you are able to determine your problem then it's probably worth it.

Firstly, the notched straightedge is perfection.
Secondly, this has got to be the fastest delivery of an internet purchase I have ever expierienced. I would go as far to say that ordering from StewMac is as fast as ordering in Sweden. BUT....there is nowhere in Sweden or the EU that has the quality of guitar tools that StewMac provide. What more is there to say, just by StewMac, in the long run there are no alternatives. Does it's job perfectly, and is of excellent quality. Mine is 3.18mm thick but does not effect the job that this tool has to do at all, so I will not deduct stars for this.

Makes neck work a breeze!

I have not had a chance to use this straight edge yet, but was already impressed at how heavy duty it was (1/8" thick.) I am sure it will hold up well, and see many years of shop use.

interesting way to see neck relief

I have been doing guitar setups for years without this tool. Now that I have it, I don't wanna work without it anymore. I use it everyday to check the neck on guitars and for setups. No more guessing, no more looking along the neck and still not being sure.

I finally broke down and bought one of these. I'm working on a problematic bass neck so I started with that one. I love it. The one for guitar is on my short list. It really does take all the guess work out of reading a neck and gives me a clear picture of what I'm working with. This thing is a good chunk of metal that will last a lifetime. BTW, the difference between 3.25mm and 3.56mm is roughly .012" (which is about 3 pieces of printer paper). That's well within the tolerances most manufacturers work with, especially on a non critical dimension, and the "thickness lie" mentioned is a non issue.
