Highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire
Narrow fretwire sizes were used on pre-World War II acoustic guitars and are used on modern banjos, mandolins and dulcimers.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs. Our fretwire tang is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Order 6 feet for a guitar or bass, and 4 feet for a mandolin or banjo.

Great stuff. Its a good match for a partial replacement on Weber mandolins and Deering banjos. I have a selection of sizes on hand.

Banjolele

Your fretwire did an outstanding job of restoring the neck of my 1920's banjolele. The old brass frets were way to low for the action and taller frets made life easier. I would like a longer tang.

Works on a guitar as well

A customer specified this fretwire for an electric guitar he wanted me to build, and it eventually worked out great.

If you plan on using this fretwire with an ebony fingerboard you probably need to shave some width of the tang barbs. I had to give up after only a few frets on an ebony board I had bought here too. I couldn't get them seated properly. The barbs on the tang was too wide for the very hard wood. Fret Barber to the rescue tho and the job was easy!

Good stuff

I have used this fretwire on 2 recent builds of Baritone Ukuleles. It's easy to work with and well priced.
