Unlike sealed aerosol cans, it lets you mix and spray up to 16 ounces of stains, sealers or topcoats. For best results, mix, thin and strain the finish before filling the jar, keep the spray nozzle clean, and have a few economical power units on hand for quick replacement.

Not recommended for waterbase finishes.

Preval Spray Unit..... a waste of time

This unit has a nozzle that emits a very small, sporadic coverage area. The mist is too fine, making the unit unsuitable for even the smallest of touch up or spot repair tasks.

Does the job

This stuff works great. Take a look at the finish on the body of this Lennon Rickenbacker 325 that came into our shop for repair!

Great product.

I am a HUGE fan after my first build. This allows you to mix your paint / lacquer exactly how you want it. Spray is much better than a rattle can.

Phenomenal Results in Extreme Conditions

Like many small shop owners, I have not always had the luxury of setting up my full compressor rig depending on where I was. I have gotten unreal results with this handy unit, and even when I have the compressor hooked up I keep some of these for touchups and faceplates. It is also a cost-effective alternative to having a dedicated gun for metallics. The jars come with screw on lids and I keep several of my best custom color mixes such as antique binding toner and black gloss prepared with the colortone line of tints and opaques.

This really saves time and eliminates waste. I have done restoration work with this device for other luthiers and they could not believe it when I told them!

Great for the shopless builder

My "shop" is the semi-enclosed balcony of my condominium complex, so I don't have a lot of options when it comes to finishing an instrument (or building it, for that matter). These Preval spray units are a great solution for me. They allow me to achieve a decent spray finish without being too conspicuous (or poisoning my neighbors' air).

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I was able to spray with one power unit; I thought it would run out much faster. Definitely test on scrap wood until you get a feel for the proper spraying distance and finger pressure required.

Cleaning is a bit of a pain, but then, isn't it always? I'm sure cleaning a proper spray gun is no fun, either.

Works as advertised

The Preval made a job much easier than I expected by easily handing the gold lacquer recipe for a gold top Gibson. I was not looking forward to this job but once mixed, it was no more difficult than using a spray can.

Sprayer with jar

Practice, practice, practice! First timers need to realize that they are going use up spray much faster than experienced users. Watch the videos, mix up more paint than you would need and practice. I am refinishing a 1938 tenor guitar for my daughter. It has taken more product than expected. Would use again.

Suprisingly control and consistent distribution of spray

I use these often. The Jars are Glass and of good quality. They are a better option than Spray Cans or Cheap-o, hobby store Airbrush rigs. The LP standard in the Photo is an 03' Gibson Ebony Standard. Refin'd by me using two preval spray rigs-one for amber the other for a lightened Cherry red.

Preval Spray Unit

This is an amazing product. Aside from the incredible price, the spray bomb lasts far longer than I expected. The lacquer jar has measurement marks on the side, making it simple to prepare the mix. I will definitely be buying more of these as I cannot justify a professional spray system.
