This has been my favorite purchase from SM . Its really great for aging white bindings , nuts, anything white. also, its better NOT to store this pen with the top facing down.
i was using one of these pens and the tip fell right out of the pen, creating a far worse mess than the bonk i was repairing.
Extremely handy for ding fixes and color matches, esp. for replacement nuts, binding repairs, etc. More gradations of the yellow/amber and more colors would be lovely!
The markers work great on small area touch ups. I decided to try the baking soda/superglue filler for the first time. It worked fine, but it does not take the marker color very well, on about fourth application and white still shows. I know Dan's tip was to mix a colored dry dye, I think with this method that's necessary. But pens work super!
while easy to use, I would have prefered the liquid to be a bit thicker in order to build up a coating. however for minor scraches it works pretty good.
These are amazing!! If you work on guitars at all.....these touchup markers are well worth the investment. I use them all the time and they really do the job. Super easy to work with and give tremendous results. THE BEST!!!!!
I used this touchup marker on an explorer I stained cherry red that got a scratch/partial gouge in the finish. This touchup marker works very well and even after I clear coated over it it held up.Looks beautiful. It is a felt tip and does not over saturate. You will not be disappointed and less work to use than repainting entirely.Thank you stewartmac!! fast shipping and great products!! Never disappointed!!
I'm totally pleased with the results of the Vintage Amber marker. I've used on a couple of vintage martins recently and it has practically erased nasty scrapes and dings on both adi and sitka tops with very different colors. the marker does not leave a persistent residue on the top either.
I have used these pens to fill some small dents and dings on guitars. Great for when you do not need to cover a large area. In the future maybe Stewmac can put the same lacquer in nail polish type applicators.
I am a long-term, loyal Stew Mac customer and must say that this is the first time that I am competely dissatisfied with a product purchase. Simply put, these stain pens do not work as advertised and made no difference whatosver in filling minor chips on my vintage Gibson acoustic.
Simply put, the product is a waste of money.
