The standard kit is an economical choice for any wiring job. It has standard PVC-insulated wire and Alpha pots.

The premium kit features cloth-covered push-back wire — the right wire for Fender and vintage-style guitar circuitry. The pots in this kit are upgraded to CTS brand for longer life and a smoother, more accurate response.

Great parts but.....

This is for a parts-caster project that started with an empty Tele body. As I said, great parts. The pots are smooth and quiet, the switch is top notch and the output jack is solid. However, I think you could do a little better than 26AWG shielded cable. When I tried to strip the inner conductor the entire wire pulled out of the braided shield! I upgraded to a 26 AWG shielded instrument cable and it was much easier to work with. The Tele sounds and plays great with no hum. With such great parts, why cheap out on the wiring?

Great Kit, Best switch and pots you can get!

I love CRL switches and CTS pots, you can't beat them, i got the vintage style kit, i really like working with the cloth push back wire, also the switchcraft jack is the best you can get. I priced the parts individually and where you save is not having to buy a 12 pack of capacitors, kit has all you need, plenty of wire too!!! i can't say nothing about the shielded cable, i don't like that stuff, it seemed to be good quality, i just don't like it!

Great quality

I would suggest a little clearer wiring diagram that includes the option of 50's neck dark/bright, bridge wiring or the modern neck, both, bridge wiring. Otherwise a great quality product. Some import bodies may need enlarging the control cavity to fit the switch.

Tele Already

The items I purchased were excellent quality and very easy to use. Being a first time user I did not know what to expect from Stewart Mac, but was pleasantly surprised when my purchase arrived within a week. Considering I live in Australia, this is an amazing effort. Well done guys. I won't hesitate to use again.

Telecaster pots

I had a friend put a set of your basic pots and wiring for a telecaster (volume, tone) along with the wiring into a generic telecaster copy guitar. He used the included grownd wire which was bigger than the origina.Without changing the original pickups(which are generic, usual tele pickups). This guitar sounds like it never did before. The pickups are closer in balance and the tone is great If there was a testament to using good pots this was it. Unbelievable. Thanks.

Surprised

After completing the wiring and installation in a telecaster build, I experienced some heavy static discharge and "pops" when I touched the bridge, strings, etc. There was some slight pickup noise - but not unexpected nor bad. I checked grounds and other connections along with amp connection with a known good guitar, and didn't see the problem with other guitar. I've pulled the wiring package from the guitar, and ordered a prewired unit from another vendor.

When looking further, I've found a shorted capacitor (.001 cap) that may be the culprit. I'm no electronics whiz --- but was a little surprised by my find. Hope the new wired unit fixes my problem. Will replace the SM furnished cap with a new one - and see if I can salvage my wiring package for another project. I was concerned over user safety with the first wiring package from Stewmac. Didn't want anyone to get shocked. Was disappointed..... as I've used other Stewmac packages and components with no issues. Hope this helps Stewmac with quality control ---- as I do like getting my parts from them.
