Wiring Kit for Jazz Bass

I installed the premium kit on a new Squier VM Jazz Bass. The only thing I had to modify is the control plate; the holes for the controls were just barely too small for the knobs to fit through, so I had to dremel them to make the holes larger . . . after re-wiring it sounds SO MUCH BETTER! I recommend this to anyone that has a Squier J Bass.

I purchased this to upgrade the wiring in a Squier bass and it actually improved the sound a bit over the cheap factory wiring. The only downside is that these are full size pots so they were bigger than the tiny factory pots so I had to rout a larger control cavity. If you're sure this will fit in your bass, you're golden. If you have small pots, you may have to enlarge the cavity, something preferably left for a pro. Either way, worth the money!

This wiring kit turned a piece of crap into a beast! Cheap asian pj bass...in smexy purple, had pots falling apart etc. Other than having to do a little cavity routing surgery, these CTS pots fit perfectly, even though they were 3x the size of the old ones! I cant solder to save my life but it worked perfectly... love that push back wiring too. All in all far exceeded my expectations for this project. Thanks Stewmac!

Used these on my kit build jazz bass, improved the sound of the Golden age pups I installed immeasurably. The only problem I encountered was that when I wired them to the specs supplied I got a nasty hum.. so I rewired to the classic config and problem solved. Not blaming Stewmac for this, as this is my first foray into build your own I probably messed up!

I installed this kit on my Copley Jazz Bass and I was disappointed. I couldn't notice any improvement at all. I was surprised as Alpha pots are good replacements when you can't find/afford CTS pots.

I must mention that StewMac wasn't selling CTS pots when I bought this kit. Well, I ended up redoing the wiring upgrade with a Vintage Style kit I ordered somewhere else (forgive me StewMac, please mercy) which came with CTS pots, Switchcraft jack and an Orange Drop capacitor. The sound improvement was very evident and now I can have good control of my bass settings.

If your bass cost less than $500, there's a good chance that these parts will improve your tone. I was surprised to hear such an improvement since I was just hoping to eliminate pot crackle and a cheap jack. The only possible downside is that the pots are larger than the cheap ones in many import basses. I had to rout a larger cavity for them to fit in my Fender PJ bass but when I was done it was well worth it! The only downside is that I would've liked just a few more inches of wire.
