If you individually selected the parts needed to rewire your LP with the best components, you still would end up with the contents of this kit. I would recommend purchasing a desk-mounted swing-arm magnifying lens with circular fluorescent lamp. This will greatly improve the accuracy of your soldering effort and give you a "cleaner" result. The lamp and quality wire stripper will make a world of difference to your work.
I bought this for my Les Paul. Good choices for all the components in this wiring kit. Quality materials. Thank you Stewmac.
I bought this for my Epiphone Les Paul Custom made in Japan. I had to drill in the body to fit the pots but that was expected. I also put in Gibson pickups and now it sounds great. The wires were just about enough.
This really helped in rewiring my 72 Les Paul. I had no trouble with the amount of wire in the kit as others did. Everything went great. Now for people that have trouble with wiring. The directions come in black and white. If you need to see color for your wiring diagrams. There are a lot of colored diagrams on the net...good luck
I recently replaced the original wiring in my Gibson/Baldwin Signature Series Les Paul with your premium wiring kit. The holes for the CTS pot shafts had to be re-drilled to 3/8". The rest of the installation was simple. This was an excellent addition to the Golden Age Humbuckers I was installing. Quality, instructions, and price can't be beat!
You get what you need to rewire your LP professionally! Great quality materials!
This was a perfect fit in my LP Studio. My particular model has the metal grounding plate in the control cavity and I didn't have any trouble getting it installed. 2 things: I wish there was a choice for the color of the switch knob so we didn't have to buy a separate one if we want one that isn't amber color. The wiring instructions weren't 100% clear (to me anyways), and the diagram isn't the "traditional" way of doing it. I looked up various other ways of wiring it up and trying to compare the other available online diagrams to the one included just confused me more. I eventually just ditched the diagram included with the kit & went with one of the ones I found through the online forums.
Used this kit to rewire a LP style guitar; good quality parts, wiring was long enough to rewire then entire electronics with some leftover. The CTS pots do a little more rubbing sound than I expected, but nothing really noticeable once installed.
The components in this kit are phenomenal...but the wiring schematic did not work and was far more complicated than the classic Les Paul set up. I had to look up Gibson's schematics to get the traditional Les Paul schematic. Also, I recommend getting a couple feet of four-conductor wire to run from the switch to the pots and output jack. It really makes the wiring job a lot cleaner and eliminates grounding issues that may arise from having so many single conductor wires running from the switch to the control cavity.
I bought this to rewire my Les Paul BFG like a regular Les Paul (no kill switch, tone for the P-90 in the neck, and pickup selector where the kill switch was). The wire for the neck PUP was a little short going to the switch, but other than that, it was perfect. It gave me a whole new range of tones and if I hadn't already ordered a new bridge PUP, I would have kept the burstbucker 3 that came stock since the wiring kit really toned it down. I will purchase this kit for all rewiring jobs I do from now on.
