Feeds really smooth off the end of the spool. I use a 1" dowel and a rubber cane tip pushed snug against the spool to hold it in place. It's a lot of wire and oddly enough (no offense Stew Mac) a good deal. A lot of wire suppliers stop at 40awg and I've seen others cost more with shipping included
Well I've used this wire before on winding single coils. It worked so well that I went on to try my hand at Humbucker winding using the 43AWG. Well I'm back using the 42 until I get better. It is stronger and easier to use than the 43.
I bought this and it is what it is. However, like everything else it cost twice as much as it should. In a pinch buy this. If you have some time, there are other places that are much cheaper.
Good quality, right amount, Easy to use. Follow Stew-Mac advice and you'll wind perfect pick-ups
Good sounding wire that has it's own character. I like the 43 gauge spool because I don't use a lot of it and it comes in a convenient size so you don't have to buy a 5 lb spool.
