Instructions
When connected to electrical ground, the shielded surfaces help reduce noise, hum and radio interference. It cleans up with water while still wet, and dries overnight.

Brush on two or more coats of this waterbase dark gray conductive paint for best results (let dry between coats). Conductive shielding paint is supplied in a 1/2-pint can, sufficient for shielding several electric guitars, and in a money-saving 1-pint can. We recommend our conductive tape for best results when shielding smooth plastic pickguards.

What NOT to do

Right before playing a wedding, I read an article online about tone on a Strat. Well, don't believe everything you read. I have an Eric Clapton, and the article said you can get better tone from removing the paint inside the body cavity. WRONG. On a Clapton, Fender puts a conductive paint inside the cavity because of the active pick-up. I removed all the paint. Needless to say, at the wedding my guitar picked up every frequency that was near me. Sounded like a space ship when I took my hand off the strings. This paint saved my butt on almost ruining a perfectly great Eric Clapton Guitar. Thank you S.M.

Shhhhhhhh!!!!

A bass at Sherwood had a major hum. We painted cavities with shielding paint and wired them to ground. Now it is as quiet as a dead mouse.

Conductive Shield paint

Make sure you have good ventilation and are wearing gloves and an apron or clothes you don't care about. Product does the job after 3 coats, but you may need to shave some wood if you have any clearance issues with wires or Pot bodies, etc.

Drying time.

A lot of reviewers have mentioned using a hair drier to speed things up. I went to a manufacturer's website and found this interesting tidbit: "The paint needs to be dry all the way through the paint (chemically dry) and not just "touch" dry, so always leave more time when in doubt. If you put a second coat on too soon, the two coats will bond and you will not get the additional screening protection."

Works very well!!!

I applied five coats over about 12 hours. With good air circulation and thin coats, it dries very fast. Be sure to tape off every edge since it is a paint. Did every cavity and my guitar is whisper quiet. Extremely noticeable improvement that looks much better than copper foil, which I've used as well. This product is awesome.

Better than pepto Bismo!

Have been coating all the cavities in my personal guitar collection with this product. I had previously cut brass shim stock and forms it in the cavities, this is a LOT easier! Great product, time saver too!

Got rid of Les Paul Static

Bought a cheap Les Paul Special. Has tons of trouble with static. 5 coats later I had no static.

Have patience.. but it does work . .

Don't be alarmed by the price. You'll have PLENTY of product to finish several instruments with a single 1/2 pint can with. You've NEVER worked with this kind of paint before.. WEAR GLOVES always. Get a roll of "painter's tape" (low-tact) '3-M' is good. The key to success with this RF-blocking paint is in the preparation of the instrument. Mask and cover... cover and mask.. All the way to the very edge of each cavity. This paint will ruin everything it touches..(everything). Plan accordingly. GO SLOW when using this stuff, slow, deliberate movements are necessary. 3-coats will start showing measurable results with your meter. I used "pipe cleaners" on my first project to get the paint in the wire channels..(took many times). You may just want to skip painting the wire channels and bond the cavities together via wire anchored on each end mechanically, or copper braid "solder wick". Either way, check...check and recheck each step with your meter to ensure it's all coming together "as one" electrically. Don't forget the bond the foil-backed pickguard to ONE of the cavities. This paint does work.. and I'm glad I bought it.

Great Stuff!

Bought this to shield the cavities on a '91 Fender P-Bass Lyte and a '01 Geddy Lee Ltd Edition. Bottom Line: Buy it! It works!
