250K vs. 500K
Generally, 500K-ohm pots are used with humbuckers and 250Ks are used with single-coil pickups. 25K pots are used for active systems.

You can use any value you like, but a 250K will give a slightly warmer tone than a 500K pot. The 250K pot bleeds off some of the high frequencies to ground. A 1 Meg-ohm pot bleeds off even less than a 500K pot, so if you want to hear your guitar "wide open" you may want to try one.

1-meg pots are also ideal for piezo pickups, as the ultra high impedance piezo element is more adversely effected by conventional, lower-value pots than magnetic pickups.

We also have a full line of control pots for non-active circuitry. Extra mounting nuts and lock washers are also available.

Cheap for a reason

I've had nothing but problems with this. For some still unknown reason, when the switch is in the down position, the is a ton of resistance in the switch, but when it's up, all works as normal. Basically it's a super cheap made in China push pull. Don't waste your time or money. I pulled my hair out thinking that I had a wiring problem, but when I Ohm'd out the switch, I found my problem. While the pot is tiny, the taper on it was okay.

Pretty flimsy

One entire side of posts broke off when I bent 22awg stranded from one side to solder to the other. I opened the casing to see if it could be repaired...not a chance. Would not recommend for professional use. You may want to buy extras just to be safe (wish I had).

Push-pull pots

I have used Stew Mac's push-pull pots many times. They are very cool on a Les Paul to add coil taps or in phase out of phase sounds. The quality of the product is better than some other electronics i have purchased from other guitar places.

They don't set flat...

Pots are pots and these work and they've always metered at specs. They have an annoying tab that you can either grind off or shim with flat washers until they rest flat. I do love the over hanging tab on the top. I drill a small hole in it and all pot grounds go in that hole for easy soldering.

If they came with a pre drilled hole and no tab, they would be perfect. These have a small foot print inside the control cavity and that makes for a neater cavity when you're all done. Of all the things to buy here it seems my carts always end up with 4 to 8 of these.

Very nice pots!

They get the job done. Some I've bought from other companies wore out or had bad connections internally. These work.
