250K vs. 500K
Generally, 500K-ohm pots are used with humbuckers and 250Ks are used with single-coil pickups. 25K pots are used for active systems.

You can use any value you like, but a 250K will give a slightly warmer tone than a 500K pot. The 250K pot bleeds off some of the high frequencies to ground. A 1 Meg-ohm pot bleeds off even less than a 500K pot, so if you want to hear your guitar "wide open" you may want to try one.

1-meg pots are also ideal for piezo pickups, as the ultra high impedance piezo element is more adversely effected by conventional, lower-value pots than magnetic pickups.

We also have a full line of control pots for non-active circuitry. Extra mounting nuts and lock washers are also available.

3 humbucker conversion

I built this guitar with Stewmac parts in 1990. I've always had a thing for the old Les Paul Jnr shape and I wanted to build a cross between a Gibson and a Fender. So I drew around a '56 Les Paul Jnr, built the neck and body out of English ash but put a Fender length fretboard on it. I installed a split coil active humbucker and single coil neck pickup, but was never really happy. I've just bought and installed three 'Golden Age' pups, all split coiled with push/pull 500k pots and now it sounds GLORIOUS!!! I also have the love of my life, a '57 Goldtop which now has serious competition! Great service with a great result...thanks Stewmac...keep up the good work...

Great pots, great price

I am really pleased with these pots. The push/pull action is smooth and there is no snap or crackle in the channel. These were very easy to install myself. I particularly appreciated the tab for the ground connection so that I did not have to heat up the whole back to make the connection

Item # 1216 - 500K Push-pull pot

Excellent Push-Pull pot. Heavy positive rotation, giving a guitarist confidence in quick tone or volume setting. The push-pull action is quick and easy during playing and soloing. Great option for in-phase/out-phase pickup selection. Thx Stew! DrBob737

Good pot

This worked very well in my telecaster using custom wound pickups with split outputs. It appears to be of high quality at a very good price. Could not ask for more

quality pots

Good quality pots, very easy to use. I keep lots of them around the shop for any quick wiring change that a customer wants while I'm installing their pickups.

Good product

The pots were very good but the shipping cost were very high for just a small package.

Simple Way To Add a Switch

I used it in the conversion of a Standard Tele to a Nashville style by using it to actuate the middle pickup. Saved me from having to rewire a 4-way or add a 5-way and I can simply add the middle pickup in any combination with the other two or choose not to use it at all and retain all of the classic Tele sounds.

Good product

Perfect fit for import guitars(7.14mm). Out of the factory, my PRS Tremonti SE had Alpha pots. These don't feel like the factory pots, because they roll much lighter then the tight turning factory stuff. I'm not complaining because the roll is silky smooth. The push/pull action is very positive.
Hint: Sand the surface for the ground to make your soldering experience more pleasant.
