250K vs. 500K
Generally, 500K-ohm pots are used with humbuckers and 250Ks are used with single-coil pickups. 25K pots are used for active systems.

You can use any value you like, but a 250K will give a slightly warmer tone than a 500K pot. The 250K pot bleeds off some of the high frequencies to ground. A 1 Meg-ohm pot bleeds off even less than a 500K pot, so if you want to hear your guitar "wide open" you may want to try one.

1-meg pots are also ideal for piezo pickups, as the ultra high impedance piezo element is more adversely effected by conventional, lower-value pots than magnetic pickups.

We also have a full line of control pots for non-active circuitry. Extra mounting nuts and lock washers are also available.

Alpha 500 k push pull pots

The pots have a nice, linear volume response, are silent in their switching and simple to wire. The only issue I had was that the wiring diagram showed the middle and bottom lugs as the connections for coil-tapping. Wanting to pull up for single coil, I used the middle and top solder lugs to route my coil tap to ground.

Good for imports

No need to drill or ream when you can get the pots that fit. Alpha pots are good quality and make the job easier if your replacing originals.

Great Push pulls!!

Very firm clicks and no "play" (looseness) whatsoever. It does what you need it to do when you need it too!! Recommend 100%!!

Great Pot

The Alpha Push-pull Pots work great for splitting pick-ups on guitars with passive pick-ups. I have read some negative reviews about these pots. I have had great results with Alpha Push-pull Pots. Thank You Stew Mac for great products and service.

Perfect for my project

I bought and installed a 500K-ohm Alpha Push-Pull pot in my "Indonesian" Squier Jazz bass to add a switchable series circuit to my bass. I now have the option of the stock parallel signal or the new series one. The pot wired up easily and works well ... surpisingly hum-free when my amplifier is grounded. The price for the one Alpha Pot/switch system was lower than what I found from major electrical component suppliers. I could not ask for more. Kudos!

Perfect for my use

I bought these to replace my tone pots on my LP project that I built. These are very smooth turning and the on/off switching is very quiet but solid. I’ll be using these for years to come. This is how i put them to work: I used the Jimmy Page wiring diagram from StewMac for the bridge PU and added my own twist by switching the neck PU from series to parallel. I also swapped the in/out on the volume pots to have separate PU control. The other thing I did was add a RC circuit to the neck volume. Everything works better than expected!
