Each of our pickup kits features vintage-style parts and includes an assembly diagram to get you started.

Choose Alnico 5 or Alnico 2 magnets:
Alnico 2 magnets give a warmer tone and low end response with smooth, singing highs. Many builders use them in the bridge pickups of solidbodies.
Alnico 5 produces a brighter tone with a tighter low end and stinging highs. They're great for neck position pickups, to help keep the tone clear without getting muddy.

Kit includes the basics for a pickup that's straight from the '50s:
  • Black fiber bobbin flatwork
  • Brass eyelets
  • Vintage specification staggered-height polepieces, ready to magnetize (instructions included, Alnico 2 magnets are marked red on one end to tell them apart from Alnico 5's)
  • Black and white push-back wire
  • Mounting screws
  • Compressible tubing for height adjustment

The assembled pickup fits a standard Strat® pickup cover and pickguard.

Polepiece spacing 2.0625" (52.39mm)
Pole to pole
(measured on centers)
0.4125" (10.48mm)

Nice kit!

Follow the directions and you shouldn't have any problems putting these together.

Sorry but the holes for the megnets in the upper bobin are a bit to close which makes the pickup doesn't fit in a standard cover. Otherwise top kit.

Close

I have purchased three single coil pickups for a strat build and found that my strat pickup guard screws did not align with my pickup holes. It wasn't a huge deal and nothing a small file can't fix but you expect to buy a strat pickup kit and a strat pick up guard from the same manufacturer, I would have expected everything to align better than they did.

Wonderful kit

This kit was flawless. It took a bit of work to assemble the bobbin, but that only ensured that it would remain sturdy and straight. The fiber that the flatwork is made of is wonderful, and I will never buy plain plastic flatwork after using this. The eyelets for soldering are already attached. I put a small piece of tape over them to keep the wire from catching on them while winding. The cloth push-back wire that this came with might have been my favorite part of the whole kit. It really makes the pickup. People are already asking me to build them these, and I will certainly buy many more in the future.

Great kit

Great kit. I only found a small problem, the covers from my Standard American Strat didn't exactly align with the polepieces of the pickup. The difference was so small that I could fix it by just filing very slightly one of the holes in the covers. No one will ever notice, but I would like to know if the problem was a mismatch between the kit and the Fender covers. Maybe I just didn't assemble the bobbins perfectly, I don't know. Just check your parts before you buy.
