Golden Age Overwound Humbuckers

I installed a G/A overwound in an LPDC replica and wow what a nice surprise. The p/u cleans up very well yet can deliver a good solid crunch when driven. Really good warm tone and I will definitely look at these p/u's again on my next project guitar.

I think these Hots G Age are the best thing overall for the money.

I have in mind very good p'ups, like the DiMarzio's FRED, another PAF evolution, when I hear the G Age.

The Golden sounds almost the same way for half the price!

At first, I found them to be slightly muddy, especially in the neck position, But that was with the traditional .02 cap. After switching to a .01 cap, they brightened up quite nicely. I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on another set, but would definitely go with a .01 or less cap. Overall, a really good choice foe the money.

These pick-ups take the pepsi challenge with any of the more expensive models. Great response and sustain. Give your guitar that classic tone.

I ordered a couple of these overwound, nickelcover humbuckers and got it within 4 workdays, which was quite fast I think.
I got to install them yesterday and when I plugged it in it sounded so beautiful! I also ordered two push/pull pots for my 2 volume, 1 Tone setup LTD EC-500, and it's so versatile now with coil-tap on both pickups. It's A LOT better than those boring EMG's that were on before!

I strongly recommend these if you're your short on money but still want quality. No buzz/hum, Fantastic tone, and good looks + easy to install.

Only problem was that I had to look up a diagram on the internet, but that's no biggie at all. I don't expect Stewmac to include all the different weird diagrams there are.

I installed the overwound humbucker in the bridge of my 75 Ibanez LP. I wanted something a little hotter than a standard humbucker, but nothing over the top. This pickup was spot on. You can get hot blues and classic rock tones very easily.

I replaced the stock bridge pickup on my Epi Studio Deluxe Limited Edition with one of these. WOW!! I have been chasing the elusive "perfect tone for me" for a while. This nailed it. Between this and the Golden Age HB in the neck position, I can tweak volume and tone and go anywhere from chimey and clear to dark and growling (with just a little OD).

I couldn't be happier with my Golden Age Overwound buckers. Nickel cover at the neck, zebra exposed at the bridge in my '74 SG. Great tone, response, harmonics, you name it, and the added overwound punch. Better than Nashville-made at twice the price.

The pickups sound great on my les paul, they growl with a very distinctive sound. Quite a nice complement to my Hamer w/Seymore Duncans.

I recently picked up an overwound bridge & standard neck set of Golden Age humbuckers for my 1960 Gibson LP RI. The balance across the tonal spectrum is fantastic. No "boomy" or "woofy" sounds when using the neck pickup—more than enough sizzle, sparkle & snap in the bridge. The sound blossoms & blooms out of your speaker cabinet when strumming open chords yet don't shy away from an intensified pick attack when plucking individual notes.

The neck pickup just might be the best vintage sounding neck pickup I've ever played…I’ve always preferred the sound of bridge humbuckers. For the monetary investment, the value here is unsurpassed. I currently have a set of WCR humbuckers in my PRS Tremonti SE which sound great—but with regard to VALUE, the Golden Age series sound PHENOMENAL. When I open up my Marshall JTM45, they ring forever...ESPECIALLY that overwound bridge (MOMMA!). These pickups are what Dimarzio was trying to pull off with the PAF Pro models, which I used in my PRS prior to installing the WCRs. They're wax potted, too, so if you dig on that PAF-sounding vintage tone you can get it here without the wonderful microphonic squeal of period-correct PAFs. I'm going to replace the WCR in the neck of my PRS with another standard Golden Age neck model.

Without question, the Golden Age products are the best $115 (that's WITH S&H) I've ever spent on guitar pickups. PERIOD. :-)
