Golden Age Alnico 5 Single-coil Pickups

The settled on a Squier, the customer is more than satisfied with the sound and the work done, excellent bass and good treble, really appreciate that sound since the music he play is blues. These are amazing for the price. I just finished restoring my Cimar strat copy and decided to try new pickups. I put in the Golden Age HB in the bridge with coil-tapping and the 5423 hot neck and middle. The guitar really sings now. Sparkling crystal clears highs. Very happy.

Just put a set of these in a Strat I built and I am very happy with them. Only problem is that the covers do not seem to seat home properly and I needed to clean up the inside a little. They sound fantastic though.

I installed the set of 3 with the hotter bridge pickup and the top end switch and pots in a Japanese Squier (1983), so a decent body and neck. Previously had custom hand-wound single coils installed. The Stew/Macs were a really nice surprise - very "Stratty" in tone and quality...bright and clear, with great tonal distinction between each pickup and classic out of phase sounds. I recommend these for anyone seeking what a Strat should really sound like..!

Not a bad pickup considering the price but don't expect the same tone and quality from pickups costing more. I ultimately returned them. Just remember: you get what you pay for.

1st let me praise StewMac for prompt delivery! Well under the estimated time. I am gathering components to build a relic version of David Gilmour's black Strat. I decided to try this very highly praised “Golden Age Alnico 5420” from StewMac. At 5.7K ohms the resistance is slightly lower than listed. Although the 5420 is not a bad pickup, it sounded (a little) weak and very average. Also, even though shielded it was no quieter than the other pickups. The 5420 is not a pickup that is destined to stay in either of my Strats. I chose the 5420 over the 5421 for the middle position as Gilmour’s guitar does not have a reverse winding. This affects the "all 3 pickups on" tone that the DG Black Strat is known for. This of course is not the recommended position for the 5420 neck pickup.

Product is really good, I like very much.Sound is just what i need.Do have problem with ground but i guess it is just over my side.Once again high recommend this product.

#5420 is more than expected, 5421 is good ,not so bad, 5423 is not good .I like #5420 .

I bought a Hot Golden Age single coil to put in my Squier Strat, and it sounds fabulous. It's louder, rounder, and more sparkling (you know what I mean!) than the stock pickups, and it sounds more like a Strat than ever. It was way less expensive than similar quality pickups from other makers, and it arrived ready to drop in the guitar with all the necessary accessories like screws, springs, and an extra cover (one black, one white).

I know 45 greenbacks is a lot at the end of the month, but when you consider the easy, huge improvement to your sound, it's actually an incredible bargain.
