Stacked overwound coils under a solid cover
EMG-HZ S3 Single-coil Pickup
The S3 is a high-output (11.0K ohms) overwound stacked pickup for direct replacement in a Strat® or similar guitar. It features Alnico 5 polepieces with 2-1/8" spread, under a solid cover. The S3 is designed with less high frequency response, to complement high output dual-coil pickups in the same guitar. A great choice for heavy metal.

All EMG-HZ "single-coil" pickups have either a stacked or side-by-side dual coil design, to fit a standard single-coil pickup cavity. Screws, springs and wiring instructions are included.
Thoroughly "road-tested," HZ pickups were formerly available only on B.C. Rich, ESP, Jackson and Schecter instruments. They're handmade in California by a leader in pickup technology, with precision and attention to detail.
EMG-HZ passive pickups require no batteries and feature high gain and low noise. Each pickup includes a unique 5-pin Quik-Connect™ cable for fast installation and swapping. To minimize noise, all HZs are fully shielded. The coils are potted and the pickups are polymer-encapsulated for microphonic-free performance.
