EMG BTC Bass Control

Be warned: If you buy one of these you will put one in your other bass(es) as well. Just so you know...
Skip the 9 volt option, go straight to 18 volts, trust me ;-). Hook it up and be ready to be amazed. Then adjust the dip switches (the paperwork gives you the response curves) and be ready to be re-amazed. The bass boost is solid, the treble boost is smooth and sweet. You will greatly increase the amount of ways your bass sounds 'good'. Do not confuse this with anything passive tone control does, this is something totally different! Or: The gain in sound is greater than the sacrifice in dollars...... (The cheap knobs that come with it do not change the sound it produces, and therefore did not influence my opinion.)

I Just love this preamp, clean and powerful, I use it on practically every bass guitar for that extra control on the overall sound, often crucial both in live and studio situations.

Let me preface this review by saying that this is my first adventure with active pickups. I decided to go with an EMG P-X for my American P-Bass. The sound of the pickup was incredible. The stock tone control,not so much. Upgraded to the BTC system and now my great sounding pickup sounds even better with a bass boost :)

This is my secret weapon that I have installed on all my Jazz Basses. Very small. Has two Dip switches to control high end frequency. Great battery life. Highly recommended.

STEWMAC is my favorite shop. I only regret that it is not just here around the corner.
