Fishman Thinline Undersaddle Pickup

I have built about 40 guitars, and have installed a dozen or so pickups in acoustic guitars. This product is very flimsy and subject to damage on install. I have never been able to get decent balance across all six strings with it. The continuous ribbon type from BBand has worked a lot better for me . Wish stewmac carried them.

This pickup is over priced. I also did not want the Switch Jack but had to buy it to get the pickup. I have found multi-element piezo pickups from Asia for much less money that put out enough signal to not need a pre-amp. Note also that this type of pickup is a "leveler" - you are hearing the sound of the pickup much more than the guitar that it is mounted in - making a $300 guitar and a $3000 guitar sound much the same.

Installed the thinline under saddle in the adjustable bridge of my archtop. I made a new saddle of pau ferro, routed it for an 1/8th" slip-fit saddle. I was completely happy with the result. Stan Tucker

Installation of this piece was actually easier than instructions said; normal care and accurate placement resulted in terrific sound and balance, especially when connected to the Fishman G II preamp.

I have installed several of these Fishman Thinlines for customers of mine who want a lot of pickup without breaking the bank. All of them were pleased with the result and loved the way it sounds. They are easy to install and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good passive pickup.
