It is just a bent bit of spring steel but it works very well as a 9v battery clip in many situations. I use them for other electronic projects outside of guitar jobs.
The clip works great, except there is no room for the screws. I bent the hole area to make a countersink, see photo. With a mating countersink in the neck block, mounted fine.
